Dealing with Depression

Regular readers of my fanfiction and my website already know that I have depression and anxiety.  I've had  a few readers reach out about dealing with depression, finding treatment, etc.

I am definitely not a doctor, and I am not qualified to make any treatment recommendations.  I can tell you what I went through and what worked for me - but none of what I had for treatment may work for you.    Human beings are INCREDIBLY diverse, and not everyone responds to the same treatments in the same way.  Talk to someone.  Reach out.  I will always suggest that you confide in someone close to you, be that your parents, a teacher, your doctor, or someone from your faith.

Some of what worked for me was just taking care of myself physically - eating nutritious meals, exercising, spending time to just relax, sleeping - all helped my recovery, but they were just a small part of a far more complex treatment plan that involved my doctor, an excellent therapist, medication, more therapy, and supportive friends and family.

There are a number of resources if you're looking for help.  Take the time to check them out.  You might find something that speaks to you.  Don't wait.  You can find help.

IF YOU ARE SUICIDAL:

Please don't wait to get help.  You need it now.  Tell someone.  Tell your doctor.  Tell your friend, a teacher, a school counselor, your parents, SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP.
